Applications available online

Anyone interested in applying for the travel grant or mentoring program can now download the documents.

The Mentoring Application is located at http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~ajbenedi/Mentoring.docx and is due February 16th by 5 pm. You can give your application to any IE GSO officers or drop if off in Grissom 379 to Ashley.

The Travel Grant Application is located at http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~ajbenedi/TravelGrant.docx and is due March 2nd by 5 pm. You can give your application to any IE GSO officers or drop if off in Grissom 379 to Ashley.

Welcome Back

I hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing break. Here is information for the upcoming GSO events.

Spring 2009 GSO Meetings
Jan 20th 1st Meeting – Welcome Meeting - snacks will be provided
Feb 3rd 2nd Meeting – Tour Dr. Landry’s Lab (David Rozovski)
Mar 3rd 3rd Meeting – Tour MGL (Chris Saldana)
Apr 7th 4th Meeting – Elections

First Thursday and Third Wednesday – Brown Bag Lunch in PMU – Get to know other IE graduate students

Sporting Event
Jan 31st ChemE Competition – Need participants and team captains
Apr 18th Black and Gold Spring Football Game and Picnic

Socials
Jan 20th Welcome Back Social – Jake’s at 5:30 pm (after seminar)
Jan 23rd Opportunity for lunch with IE's Advisory Board (TBA)
Feb 19th Graduate Student Appreciation Carnival – PMU North Ballroom from 12 pm – 2 pm
Feb 20th Social with ABE – Location and time are to be determined
Mar 26th Social with IE Undergrads – Bowling – Location and time are to be determined

Mentoring
Mentoring Opportunities – 2 upper level students for each research area (8 mentors in total).
Mentors must have attended Purdue as a graduate student for more than one year.
Mentors will receive 250 business cards.
Mentors and Mentees will have a budget of $80 for the academic year to be spent on food and drinks (non-alcoholic).
