Academic Activities Committee (AAC):

Primary Functions
The primary function of the Academic Activities Committee is to take responsibility for the organization of scholarly activities that will positively impact graduate students of the School of Industrial Engineering as well as students from other departments. Specifically, the Academic Activities Committee will be in charge of organizing the Second Annual IE Poster Symposium. Last year’s inaugural symposium was a great success and this year, we would like to put emphasis on outreach to other departments.
In addition, the committee will put an effort in taking a bigger responsibility in the organization of IE 697 which is a course consisting of a series of seminars, hosted regularly by the department. If need be, the committee will look into providing graduate students a medium for improving their presentation skills by organizing a student seminar series separate from IE 697.
The committee will also be in charge of representing the department during the Big 10 Expo as well as networking activities with undergraduate students in the department.
The committee will have the ultimate purpose of increasing its membership to 5 students which it will take on immediately once Fall semester begins (with the arrival of new students to campus).
Meeting Schedule and Process
The team will meet monthly or as required to keep track of issues and provide adequate support towards successful progress of the primary functions of the committee. It is the committee chair’s duty to delegate responsibilities amongst members and report to IE GSO Executive Board on the committee’s progress during monthly meetings.
